It all started in 2012 when…

Our founder Henry Johnson, a recent transplant yearning to find other young black professionals, had the bright idea to host monthly meet-ups for young professionals of color. Fast forward, and what started as a small, intimate monthly after work meetup is now over 2000 members strong!

Our signature events include an annual beach day, monthly networking, public meetups, and our annual ski trip.

We continue to foster a space for small, informal gatherings of all kinds and we are always happy to meet you and pretend like we've known you for years!

All our events are an intentional effort to address the perception of Boston as unwelcoming to minorities and help connect black and brown people in a city that can otherwise feel isolating.

We are free and open to any young, black professional (between the ages of 21-38) in the Greater Boston area.

Since 2022, we have been granted 501(c)3 status! With our newly acquired charitable status, YBP aims to not only foster meaningful connections among its members, but we pledge to actively contribute to the betterment of the community through various initiatives and philanthropic endeavors.

Our gathering together is an act of resistance and the declaration #weareblackboston!
